Drainage

Drainage can either be a natural process of both surface and sub-surface water from a particular area, and the artificial removal, but in any case drainage is needed in order for the management of water supplies.

In today's modern drainage systems they use geotextile filters both prevent and reject anything from getting into the drainage system that could lead to it getting blocked. These filters are fabrics which are manufactured for both the use of civil and environmental engineering as they stop any soil passing through the system but still allow the passing through of water. In your average drainage system they are found along the trench, after they are implemented into the trench this is then filled with material like gravel and stones. After the trench has been filled the rest of the geotextile is wrapped over the top of the material and the trench is then covered with soil. This system then allows any water to flow through the trench; in any case of high water fall a pipe is laid in the base of the drain allowing an increase in water to the drain.

The use of this kind of system has become extremely popular as not only are they fairly inexpensive to produce they are also very easy to implement and the can also ensure a long term usage.
